Adenomyosis and Endometriosis Management
Adenomyosis is estimated to affect 20 – 65% of women, as many go through life undiagnosed. Endometriosis affects 1 in 9 women of reproductive age. The nutrients in food and a woman’s immune system can play a large role in helping with reproductive issues.
It takes an average of 7 years to be diagnosed with endometriosis, which can create stress and anxiety when it comes to seeing new health professionals for management strategies.
Our goal is to help you manage your condition while also empowering you with knowledge on how diet plays a key role in your overall health and wellness journey.
PCOS Management
Polycystic Ovary syndrome or PCOS is a common hormonal disorder in women of reproductive age. PCOS is thought to affect up to 13% of women, and this percentage is often higher in high risk groups such as Indigenous, Asian, North African and Caucasian European women.
A PCOS dietitian can assist you on your journey in managing PCOS by helping you regulate your periods and assisting with insulince resistance and consuming a varied diet without restrictions.
Pregnancy Nutrition
Seeing a dietitian during pregnancy can also assist in reducing the risk of adverse outcomes of gestational diabetes, high blood pressure or pre-eclampsia during your pregnancy.
Research has shown that a better diet quality during pregnancy has positive effects on child neurodevelopment and cognitive development.

Frequently Asked Questions
A women’s health dietitian is a dietitian that has a passion for women and educating women around how to best manage their individual conditions. A women’s health dietitian will have often upskilled in this specific area through self study, research and extra courses.
When working with a women’s health dietitian, you can feel confident that you are working with someone who really wants to show up and be there for their clients.
It is a progressive process. Each consultation you have, you will feel closer to reaching your goals. Dietitians offer individualised advice for each client. There is no “one size fits all” with treatment, so there is no timeline for when one might see results.
Once you and your dietitian believe that you are confident in navigating your food and nutrition, and meeting your original goals, this is a good indication that you are getting results.
Prior to your first consultation, you will need to complete a new patient form prior to seeing the dietitian. This will be sent to you or completed in clinic.
If you have any recent results from your doctor, feel free to bring them along! Otherwise, you don’t need to bring anything – just yourself!
After the consultation, we will schedule a follow up appointment, but if you have any questions or concerns between appointments, your dietitian will be available to answer your questions via email or phone call.
Our belief is that good nutrition coaching ensures that you’re managing your body well while still consuming key nutrients. For example: You may want to reduce your weight to better manage your health and your medical conditions. At Big Sis Nutrition we can help you achieve this and more with tailored education and advice around your intake and food choices.
The current recommendation for weight gain during pregnancy comes from the Institute of Medicine (IOM). These guidelines are a little outdated and they do not account for specific conditions in pregnancy (i.e. Twin pregnancies or other health conditions). It is not common practice for GPs to weigh women during pregnancy, as there is enough for women to worry about. If you would like to be weighed, please let us know at your appointment.
Pre-Pregnancy BMI Category | Weight Gain (kg) |
Underweight (<18.5) | 12.7 – 18kg |
Healthy Weight | 11.3 – 16kg |
Overweight | 6.8 – 11.3kg |
Obese | 5 – 9kg |
